Barber Vintage Fest

Barber Vintage Fest
This past weekend I went to Birmingham for the 8th Annual Barber Vintage Fest at Barber Motorsports Park. It was the second time I had been to the park. I went back in April for the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. It was as beautiful as ever and we enjoyed some truly wonderful weather. I went up early for the MotoGiro South event. I drove the chase truck behind all of the vintage motorcycle riders. It was a beautiful drive up and down, the winding route through the countryside of Birmingham.       Above: It was a vintage motorcycle event; Some of the bikes needed a little...

My first Photoshop World

My first Photoshop World
I spent the last week in Las Vegas to attend NAPP's Photoshop World (also celebrated my anniversary while there). The conference didn't start till Wednesday but on Tuesday I went on a pre-conference photowalk with Erik Valind. Erik is a super nice guy and also a great photographer so it was really an honor to have him lead the photowalk.   Here are a few shots from our walk: Above: Aria Hotel and Casino       Above: Paris Hotel and Casino   Above: Inside Caesars Palace   Based on what I've heard, for last few years at Photoshop World, Westcott has setup a...

Fishing Down South..

Fishing Down South..
A couple months ago I took a quick two-day fishing trip around Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana with some family. I had just bought my waterproof camera – in fact it actually came in the mail right before I left to go to Slidell to meet up with my family. So it was great to get to use it right away. That being said, I purchased Nikon's waterproof AW100. All the pictures below were taken with it. First impression were awesome. It has a fairly large dynamic range for such a small camera, and it really packs a punch into one little device.   It was a day and a half of just fishing. We...

The annual – I love my 7D’s 8 FPS!

The annual – I love my 7D’s 8 FPS!
A few weeks ago I spent the week on Ono Island in Alabama. Even with the high water and crazy rip current out in the Gulf because of TS Debby, in the bay we still could take the boat out and do some tubing. I strapped on my 70-200mm to my 7D and found my position on the back of the boat and fired away. I guess the only bad thing about shooting 8 FPS is that it does shoots 8 FPS and the pictures rack up quick. I had about 30 keepers that I edited out of about 800 shots. But in this case I would rather have gone through all the rejects to get THE shot than miss...

James John Audubon Bridge Visit

James John Audubon Bridge Visit
A few weeks ago I got to visit the Huey P Long Bridge's sister project, the completely new John James Audubon Bridge in New Roads, LA. The bridge really is pristine and incredibly beautiful! When I first saw it as I came around the turn of the bridge, I couldn't stop myself from emitting some "wowsers…oooos….ahhs". It is a cable stayed bridge with its two main towers reaching 500ft.   I took a 5 minute elevator ride inside one of the towers (there are elevator shafts inside each side of the tower). Once I stepped out onto the top of the tower, it somehow got even...
