My first Photoshop World

My first Photoshop World
I spent the last week in Las Vegas to attend NAPP's Photoshop World (also celebrated my anniversary while there). The conference didn't start till Wednesday but on Tuesday I went on a pre-conference photowalk with Erik Valind. Erik is a super nice guy and also a great photographer so it was really an honor to have him lead the photowalk.   Here are a few shots from our walk: Above: Aria Hotel and Casino       Above: Paris Hotel and Casino   Above: Inside Caesars Palace   Based on what I've heard, for last few years at Photoshop World, Westcott has setup a...

James John Audubon Bridge Visit

James John Audubon Bridge Visit
A few weeks ago I got to visit the Huey P Long Bridge's sister project, the completely new John James Audubon Bridge in New Roads, LA. The bridge really is pristine and incredibly beautiful! When I first saw it as I came around the turn of the bridge, I couldn't stop myself from emitting some "wowsers…oooos….ahhs". It is a cable stayed bridge with its two main towers reaching 500ft.   I took a 5 minute elevator ride inside one of the towers (there are elevator shafts inside each side of the tower). Once I stepped out onto the top of the tower, it somehow got even...

Minneapolis 2010

Minneapolis 2010
I didn't feel like doing a New Orleans post today so I searched through some old photos and found some from a couple summers ago when I went to Minnesota/South Dakota for a family reunion. The last day we were there we got to spend some time in Minneapolis. I had completely forgotten about the photos until now and hadn't even looked at them since I imported them into Lightroom two years ago so I thought I would finally edit them and post a few here.         In one of the areas Downtown they had these little bean (or maybe they were nuts?) with little hats doing landscapes...

Climbing up the New Huey P!!

Climbing up the New Huey P!!
Climbing up top the New Huey P. Long Bridge in New Orleans   A few weeks back I climbed to the very, very top of the Huey P Long Bridge. When I finally made it to the top my arms and hands were numb. A Hundred feet of ladder doesn't seem like too hard to climb when you're looking at it; but when it's straight up with a harness, your camera bouncing off the side of the cage, and having to grab tiny round bars every ten inches it takes alot out of you. But it was so worth it! The perspective from the superstructure is incredible. You can see for miles around and I got an entirely...

Jazz Fest 2012

Jazz Fest 2012
I recently attended the New Orleans tradition that is Jazz Fest.  On a bright and sunny Thursday morning, I somehow meandered my way down to the Fair Grounds (which by-the-way is the oldest still operation race track in the country) with some friends to check out some amazing music, eat some incredible food, and take in the spectacle that is the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.   It was hot and muggy but thankfully we had access to the Miller VIP Tent – you get a few free beers, stools, tables, and most importantly misting fans (alot of misting fans).   Above: Inside the...
